Sonia Ortega & Héctor Artal
Sonia and Hector, a professional Lindy Hop couple (Swing Dancers). They both have been teaching Lindy Hop on a regular basis in various dance schools in Barcelona since 2003 and they have been partly responsible for promoting the success of the Lindy Hop boom nationally. They are now are travelling all around the World involved in “spreading the Lindy Hop word”, venturing on as many attractive projects as possible. Sonia and Hector are keen to demonstrate their love and enthusiasm for Lindy Hop through their work in the hope that others too can enjoy and learn the same.
Hector and Sonia teaching perspective is focused on the fundamental aspects of what they find interesting in.
Lindy Hop; bouncing, partner communication and quality of movement form the basis of their teaching. From their own creative standpoint, teaching “cool” moves or combinations is not the priority, although they use them as tools for enjoyment and as a way for students to remember what they have absorbed during the classes.
Hector and Sonia always try to incorporate their own individual creativity into their teaching, often showing students their own originality and invention in steps and movements which they have developed. They do this to help the student on their own creative journey and inspiration. Feedback has shown Hector and Sonia that students enjoy clear examples to explain certain movements.
Felix Berghäll & Egle Regelskis
Egle Regelskis is dancing since childhood. Parents, uncles, cousins were, or still are professional ballroom dancers.
For 10 years she was involved in ballroom dance workouts, competitions, shows, and finally in 2004, discovered the Lindy Hop. Although the steps reminded of the Jive, but the dance itself was completely different. There is a story of two people. Once you know the basics you can dance with anyone and anyhow. Lindy Hop taught her to improvise in dancing and understand the connection between dancers. She believes that if one can walk one can dance. Everything else depends on passion and willingness to work!
Egle is one of the leading Lindy Hop teachers in Vilnius, Lithuania but recently moved to France and working at Bordeaux Swing.
Felix Berghäll is a swing dance instructor, performer, choreographer based in Stockholm, Sweden. Like any other swedish dancer he started in the swedish competition scene. He started at the age of nine and with bugg as his main style. One year later he took his first basic six count step in Boogie Woogie and has since then never stopped.
At the age of 16 he made his first visit to Herräng Dance Camp in Sweden and fell in love with the African American social dances of the swing era such as Lindy hop, Vernacular Jazz, Charleston and Tap. He has since then tried to inspire and learn everything that he can and develop his skill of dancing, music and teaching. He wants to pass on this knowledge to people all over the world. He is a strong believer of the freedom and the authentic style of the dance and the connection you create with your partner and the music.
He sees swing dancing as a way to bring people together and bring happiness in to their life. Because when he dances that’s is all he can think about and express. Pure happiness!
Anna Forss & Jakob Bergelin
Anna and Jakob started dancing separately when they were 9 and 10 years old, they started off with the Swedish dance Bugg before they began with Lindy Hop about… 3 years later. But dancing Lindy Hop became the main focus when they started dancing and competing together in 2010.
They have several merits both Nationally in Sweden and Internationally. The latest ones is 1st place in Lindy Strictly AllStars and Pro Showcase at ILHC and 1st place at the Swedish Championships two years in a row.
Now Anna and Jakob travel around full time both teaching, competing and performing.
